Guided by the philosophy of “removing to say even more“, Alessandra Viotti-Gilabert chose to give absolute prominence to the line, the sign, the symbols, the color, and the natural white of the handcrafted Fabriano paper, which in itself becomes a constitutive part of the artwork, in order to express her pictorial cycles and explore profound universal themes. Unfolding on large and medium formats of artisanal Fabriano paper, her visual language has since focused on a refined synthesis of figurative essentiality and symbolic abstraction, recognized today for its formal coherence and poetic intensity.
Since then, her exhibition activity has expanded significantly on an international scale.
Alessandra Viotti-Gilabert was born in Biella, Piedmont. She trained in the atelier of master Pippo Pozzi, a Renaissance-inspired art studio and a true hub of interdisciplinary research frequented by renowned artists and intellectuals. This experience laid the foundations of her research, which immediately focused on an intimate dialogue between technical rigor, visual thinking, and a symbolic dimension.
Her career began in Italy with a transversal practice intimately intertwining writing and the visual arts. During this initial period, she published fourteen works, ranging from artists’ books to children’s literature, in which images (drawings and paintings) and poetic or philosophical texts intertwine to form unique narrative and visual works. In 2014, her relocation to France marked a major turning point and the advent of full artistic maturity. It was at this moment that she chose to evolve her practice in a radical and thoughtful manner. She transitioned from creating artists’ books to the exclusive realization of visual artworks. This transition took place as a natural decantation.
Her work, which includes over fifty solo and group exhibitions, has been presented in major galleries and institutions across Europe and Asia. Notably, she has exhibited in Paris (at the Grand Palais), the Principality of Monaco, Barcelona, Berlin, Athens, Rome, Milan, Venice, Turin, and Bologna, as well as at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and the Maru Art Center in Seoul. Her work has been awarded thirteen times with international prizes in Paris, Barcelona, Tokyo, and Rome. Furthermore, her creations have entered prestigious private and public collections, notably featuring in the permanent collections of the Copelouzos Family Art Museum in Athens and the FIJLKAM Museum in Rome.
Institutional recognition punctuates her career: a member of the Académie Arts-Sciences-Lettres de Paris since 2017, she received its silver medal on two occasions (in 2018 and 2023). Since 2023, she has also been a member of the Fondation Taylor. Firmly established in the art market, she holds an official quotation at Drouot, is listed in the Dictionnaire des Artistes Cotés, and is referenced in the prestigious Catalogo dell’Arte Moderna (CAM Mondadori-Cairo Edizioni) as an international market artist, selected by its eminent critical committee

Currently represented of Italy by Galleria AccorsiArte in Turin and Venice, she is participating in the vibrant atmosphere of the 2026 Venice Biennale at the Venetian gallery. Following its critical success upon opening, her exhibition was extended until the end of July 2026 by her gallerist (Galleria AccorsiArte being listed in the official catalogue of the 2026 Venice Biennale).
Alessandra Viotti-Gilabert’s work also enjoys excellent media and institutional coverage (Ouest-France, L’Est Républicain, Le Pays d’Auge, La Repubblica, Corriere di Roma, La Provincia di Biella, Univers des Arts, official catalogues), including a television report and interview conducted during her anthological exhibition in Bologna.
The CAM - Catalogo dell'Arte Moderna
Alessandra Viotti-Gilabert is referenced in the CAM n° 61 Catalogo dell’Arte Moderna Giorgio Mondadori – Cairo Edizioni, as an Artist of the international Market. The CAM Critical Committee composed of experts led by Elena Pontiggia, Art Historian, Professor at the Academy of Brera and at the Polytechnic of Milan, analyzes Italian artistic production and selects artists and works through a process of evaluation, interpretation and contextualization. This process is expressed in the final summary of “the judgments of the critical committee” published both in the paper version and in the online version of the CAM – Catalogo dell’Arte Moderna published at the end of each year.
Artistic Approach
Alessandra Viotti-Gilabert’s artistic research unfolds through pictorial cycles exploring universal and contemporary themes: love, dreams, memory, biodiversity, the universe, water, poetry, and the emancipation of women.
Her work is based on an inner creative process where the image does not represent, but reveals. White is conceived as an active and generative field, a space of suspension where forms and symbols emerge as traces of energy and emotional states.
Her practice combines fine ink drawing and acrylic paint, enriched with iridescent, gold, and silver pigments. The works are created on 350 g/m² Fabriano cotton paper, hand-worked, an element that reinforces the sensitive and material dimension of the work.
Her visual language is a fusion of essential realism and lyrical abstraction, in a constant tension between control and openness, structure and dissolution.

I create in a space where boundaries blur, where reality opens onto a symbolic dimension, and where white becomes the realm of possibility. My practice does not describe the visible, but explores what precedes or permeates it. Each work is born from an act of listening and risk-taking, from an attempt to give form to what is not yet fully expressible.

Her Master Pippo Pozzi
The Italian painter Pippo Pozzi, who died in 1999, worked in his studio “Saletta dell’Orso” in Biella Piedmont. He was a painter but also a ceramist, engraver and art critic. His career as an artist has been very busy with a multitude of exhibitions, of which here is a brief summary. He participated in the Venice Biennale, the 6th, 7th and 9th Rome Quadrennales. He has exhibited at the Galleries of Modern Art in Turin and Bologna but also at the Palazzo Strozzi in Florence and at the Milan Triennale. Some of his works, the “100 War Disegni” have been exhibited at the Risorgimento Museum in Turin, “L’Omaggio a Venezia” at the Palazzo Braschi in Rome and at the Atelier in Brussels.An award-winning artist in Italy and abroad, his works can be found in private and public collections in Italy, France, Peru, England, Spain and the United States.
